Gambling self-exclusion in Ireland

Start with the gambling accounts and shops you use. The routes below cover the Republic of Ireland and require separate requests. For a Paddy Power online account, use these four steps; betting shops and the National Lottery have their own instructions below.

Self-exclude from a Paddy Power online account

Open Paddy Power's official self-exclusion instructions →
  1. Open My Account, then Safer Gambling Tools. Paddy Power's terms identify this route. You can also contact Customer Services if you cannot access your account or do not want to sign in.
  2. Request self-exclusion from the whole account. Ask for all-product self-exclusion and read the available periods. A limit on one product does not exclude the whole account. The terms describe a minimum of six months.
  3. Follow the confirmation and balance instructions. Keep the confirmation. Ask Customer Services about any remaining balance or unsettled bets, and the conditions that apply at the end of your chosen period.
  4. Repeat the request for other accounts and shops. The online exclusion does not cover Paddy Power retail. Request separate confirmation for other brands, including any Betfair account; do not assume account matching has worked.

Other bookmakers and online gambling accounts

Make a list of each account you want to exclude from. Use that operator's official safer-gambling or support service and ask for its full-account self-exclusion procedure. Keep the coverage and end date for each agreement.

Irish accounts should not rely on UK group-wide exclusions. Paddy Power's help page specifically excludes several other brands from automatic coverage for customers outside the UK. Check every brand you use, even when the companies share an owner.

Paddy Power betting shops: use the retail form

Open the official retail self-exclusion page and download its form. Complete it, attach a recent passport-style photo, sign it and use the freepost address printed on the form. You can also ask a shop staff member to help you register.

The Republic of Ireland retail guidance offers six or twelve months across up to ten Paddy Power shops. Name the shops you want included and keep their confirmed coverage. Other bookmakers and gambling venues need their own requests.

Check the form's start, expiry and return conditions before signing. Sending a form is a request; ask the operator to confirm when your exclusion takes effect.

Irish National Lottery online account

Open the National Lottery's Take a break page and follow its account action. It offers a break of one month to five years, or permanent account closure. Its Customer Services team can help on 01 889 1000.

The selected break makes the online account inaccessible and stops its marketing messages. This account restriction does not establish a ban at every lottery retailer or another gambling company. Read the separate balance and end-of-break conditions before confirming.

Ireland's National Gambling Exclusion Register

The GRAI page checked for this guide describes the national register in future terms, with obligations phased in for licensed operators. We could not verify a public registration route. Use the available operator routes now, and check GRAI for a confirmed opening and coverage before relying on a national exclusion.

GAMSTOP's registration eligibility is for residents of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Living in the Republic of Ireland does not make you eligible for that UK service. If you live in Northern Ireland, check GAMSTOP and arrange local venue exclusions separately.

Keep your records and use official submission routes

Send account details and identity documents only through the operator's official route. Read its privacy notice: exclusion can require retaining identifying information to prevent another account being opened. Detachr does not collect your documents or submit these requests.

While requests are being processed, you can ask your bank about gambling-payment controls. GRAI lists Irish bank options and separate website-blocking tools. These controls have their own coverage and do not replace confirmation from the gambling operator.

Local support

After you register

Keep the confirmation and a list of anything outside the scheme. Check your bank's available gambling payment controls, and make a plan for sports-betting urges. These steps can be used alongside exclusion; none guarantees that every route to gambling is closed.

No. Use its separate retail form or ask shop staff to arrange a shop exclusion. Check the named shops and dates in the agreement. Official guidance.
Can I use GAMSTOP from the Republic of Ireland?
