Follow these steps to enroll in Massachusetts's self-exclusion program.
- 1
Choose casino gaming, sports wagering, iLottery, or more than one category on the Massachusetts VSE enrollment form
- 2
Start enrollment by calling the 24-hour Safer Gaming Education Line at 1-800-426-1234, using PlayWell online chat, or visiting a PlayWell Info Center
- 3
For remote enrollment, use a device with email, a camera, and video capability; the form is provided during the appointment
- 4
Show government-issued identification with a photograph and signature, sign the agreement, and have a photograph taken
- 5
Choose one year, three years, five years, or lifetime; lifetime is available only after completing a shorter exclusion term
Ending or Removing Self-Exclusion
A fixed term does not end automatically. After the selected period, complete a reinstatement session with a designated agent and submit the removal petition. The session can be arranged through a PlayWell Info Center, PlayWell online chat, or the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. You remain excluded until the session and removal process are complete.
Important Notes
Massachusetts lets you enroll in one or more VSE categories, so casino gaming and sports wagering should be selected together if you want both covered. An operator may extend an exclusion to other gambling it offers. Retail lottery purchases are not covered by the current VSE options; iLottery exclusion applies only to the state online platform when available.
