Follow these steps to enroll in Maryland's self-exclusion program.
- 1
Review the current MLGCA application and select every category you want covered: casinos, lottery, qualifying instant bingo, fantasy competitions, and sports wagering
- 2
Choose an exclusion of at least two years or a lifetime term
- 3
Apply in person with government-issued photo ID at Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency headquarters by appointment or at a Maryland casino during operating hours
- 4
Complete the application while sober and able to make an informed decision; only you can request placement on the list
- 5
Wait for MLGCA approval and keep the written confirmation of the categories covered
Ending or Removing Self-Exclusion
Removal is not automatic. Current COMAR 36.01.03.06 allows a written request after at least two years. The request must include documentation of a Commission-approved problem gambling treatment, prevention, or healthy decision-making program, an authorization and release, and any other requirements set by the Commission. MLGCA may grant or deny the request. Ask MLGCA how this process applies before relying on removal from a lifetime selection.
Important Notes
Maryland uses one application with separate category choices. Selecting one category does not by itself state that every other category is covered, so mark each activity you want excluded. The sports wagering choice covers Maryland-licensed wagering in person and online, while affiliated businesses may apply broader policies outside Maryland.
