How to Delete Gambling Accounts and Close Betting Accounts
To close gambling accounts, use this order:
- Write down every sportsbook, casino, poker, bingo, lottery, fantasy, and other gambling account you use.
- Record available balances, open wagers, pending withdrawals, transaction history, and tax documents before closing access.
- Use ordinary account closure for an account you want closed. Review timeout or self-exclusion when you need a defined access restriction.
- Complete each operator's official process, save its confirmation, and submit a separate privacy request if you also want eligible personal data deleted.
For an operator we have checked, go straight to bet365 account closure, BetMGM account closure, DraftKings account closure, or FanDuel account closure. Each guide puts the current official route first.
If by "delete gambling sites" you mean stopping access on a phone or computer, use the gambling blocker guide after closing the accounts. Removing an app, bookmark, or browser history does not complete an operator's account process.
Choose the Action You Actually Need #
The words used by operators vary. Read the current terms before confirming anything.
| Your goal | Action to look for | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Stop using one account | Close account, deactivate account, or permanently close account | Whether the account can be reopened, which products are included, and how you will receive any remaining records |
| Take a temporary break | Timeout, cool-off, or take a break | Start and end dates, products covered, access to withdrawals, and what happens when the period ends |
| Restrict gambling for a stated term | Operator or state self-exclusion | Products, operators, venues, jurisdictions, duration, removal rules, and treatment of balances or open wagers |
| Remove eligible personal information | Privacy or data-deletion request | Identity checks, legal or regulatory retention, the response date, and which records will remain |
| Remove the app or website shortcut | Uninstall, block, or remove saved access | Other browsers, devices, app stores, passwords, payment methods, and account access that still remain |
Ordinary closure, timeout, self-exclusion, and data deletion can have different effects. Ask the operator to name the action it completed and the products it covers.
Close bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, or FanDuel #
bet365
Use our bet365 closure guide for the Account, Gaming Controls, and Account Closure route. It explains the finite and indefinite closure choices, what bet365 says about access to balances, and why a privacy request or state self-exclusion is a separate action.
bet365 says a finite closure reopens automatically when the selected period ends. Choose Indefinitely if you do not want an automatic reopening, then save the confirmation and ask support about any balance, wager, or record that remains unresolved.
BetMGM
Use our BetMGM closure guide for the Account, Account Settings, and Service Closure route published by BetMGM support. The guide keeps the 24-hour reversal period scoped to that published support procedure and explains the separate effects of ordinary closure and self-exclusion.
BetMGM's account FAQ says its account is unified across available states except Nevada, while closure is applied by product and self-exclusion can have broader effects. Confirm the products and jurisdictions attached to your request before leaving the account.
DraftKings
Use our DraftKings closure guide for the direct account-deletion page and current app, desktop, mobile web, Pick6, Fantasy, and DK Horse routes. It also covers permanent closure, cool-off, self-exclusion, balances, open wagers, tax records, and the separate Privacy Center request.
DraftKings' current US instructions say to withdraw available funds before closure because login access ends after the account closes. Save the confirmation and ask support about any item that still needs attention.
FanDuel
Use our FanDuel closure guide for the current account-settings route and help identifying Sportsbook, Casino, Fantasy, or FanDuel Sports Network before acting. The effect on balances, pending wagers, contests, or subscriptions can differ by product and jurisdiction.
FanDuel's current general closure article tells users to withdraw funds first and select the product they want to close. The guide also separates account closure from timeout, self-exclusion, TV subscription cancellation, and a privacy request.
Close an Account With Another Operator #
Work from the operator's own website or app. Avoid sending identity documents, passwords, or financial information to an unofficial directory.
- Open the operator's official Help, Account, Responsible Gaming, or Safer Gambling section.
- Search for close account, deactivate, timeout, self-exclusion, and privacy request.
- Check that the article applies to your country, state, gambling product, and account.
- Save the relevant balance, wager, withdrawal, transaction, and tax records.
- Complete the official form or contact the official support channel.
- Ask for written confirmation of the action, effective date, products covered, and any remaining administrative steps.
Use the US self-exclusion directory when you also want to restrict access across a state program, group of licensed operators, or covered venues. State, tribal, venue, lottery, and operator programs can use separate lists.
Protect Balances, Open Wagers, and Tax Records #
Account closure should not become another reason to place a wager. Before submitting the request, make a dated note of:
- available cash and promotional balances;
- pending deposits or withdrawals;
- open wagers, contests, or contracts;
- transaction and account statements;
- tax documents already available;
- support case numbers and previous restrictions.
Follow the operator's published process for eligible withdrawals and settlement. Ask support how it will handle any open item after login access ends. Keep the reply somewhere that does not require reopening the gambling app.
If money needed for housing, food, medicine, transport, or bills is at risk, move to the gambling transaction blocking guide and contact the relevant bank through its official app or the number on the card.
Request Personal-Data Deletion Separately #
Closing an account does not answer a separate request about personal information. Open the operator's current privacy notice and look for its privacy request form or contact. Ask:
- What information can be deleted in your jurisdiction?
- What identity verification is required?
- Which records must be retained, and why?
- When should you expect a response?
- How can you follow up after account access ends?
Save transaction and tax records you reasonably need before asking for deletion. Gambling operators may have legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention, tax, or dispute records that cannot be erased on demand. The operator's response should explain the result for your request.
Remove the Routes Back In #
After the account request is underway:
- uninstall gambling apps and remove app-store shortcuts;
- delete saved passwords, passkeys, autofill, bookmarks, and home-screen links;
- unsubscribe from email and text promotions;
- turn off odds, score, bonus, deposit, and cash-out notifications;
- remove saved cards, bank accounts, and wallets where the operator allows it;
- block known gambling domains on every device and browser;
- leave betting group chats and unfollow tipsters or affiliate accounts;
- tell one trusted person which accounts are closed and which requests remain open.
Use the current guides for iPhone, Android, Chrome, Mac, or Windows. Add the online gambling shutdown guide when accounts span several gambling products.
If You Cannot Sign In #
Use the operator's official logged-out support route. State the product, jurisdiction, email or username on the account, and the exact action you need. Do not send a password. Ask support to preserve any existing gambling restriction while it resolves access, funds, records, or closure.
You can adapt this message:
Please close or restrict my account and confirm the action, effective date, products covered, and any remaining steps. I also need help with [balance, open wager, withdrawal, tax record, or privacy request]. Please keep any existing gambling restriction in place while this is resolved.
Keep the case number, date, and response. If the operator does not answer, use the complaint or regulator route named in its official terms for your jurisdiction.
Common Questions #
Does deleting a gambling app delete the account?
No. Uninstalling removes the app from that device. The account may still be available through a browser, another device, or a new installation. Complete the operator's closure or self-exclusion process as well.
Should I close the account or self-exclude?
Use the action that matches your goal and read its current terms. Ordinary closure deals with the operator account. Self-exclusion can apply for a defined term and may cover particular products, operators, or venues. You can use both when their official rules allow it.
Can I delete every gambling account at once?
There is no single process that covers every operator, state, tribe, venue, lottery, or offshore site. Make a complete account list and confirm each action separately. A state program may cover several licensed operators, but its official scope controls.
What happens to open bets when I close an account?
The answer depends on the operator, product, jurisdiction, and restriction. Save each wager reference and ask the operator how it will settle the wager and return any eligible funds after access ends. Avoid placing another bet while it is resolved.
Can I reopen a closed gambling account?
Some ordinary closure processes can be reversed, while self-exclusion periods may not be shortened. Ask the operator what it means by closed, deactivated, permanently closed, cool-off, and self-excluded before choosing.
