Newfoundland and Labrador Self-Exclusion: Stop alc.ca Play

Official program details last verified .

To stop playing through your existing alc.ca account, open My Account and select Take a Break. This guide covers that online action for Newfoundland and Labrador residents. Physical VLTs, shop-bought tickets, and charitable gambling need separate attention.

Do this now

  1. 1

Sign in to your existing alc.ca account and open My Account, then Take a Break. There is no need to open a game to reach this control

  2. 2

Choose 1-90 days or a longer break of 6, 12, 24, or 36 months. Review the conditions and complete the operator's confirmation prompts

  3. 3

Keep the confirmation. If you cannot access the control or need help with money left in the account, contact Atlantic Lottery at 1-877-252-3287

  4. 4

Turn off the app's notifications separately. Check any existing lottery or Proline wagers and subscription purchases with ALC; a break does not undo bets already placed

  5. 5

For VLTs, retail tickets, or a local charitable game, ask that operator what restrictions it can arrange. Call 811 for confidential gambling support if you need help planning the next step

Ending self-exclusion

The selected ALC break cannot be reversed early. Short breaks require reviewing Healthy Play information and acknowledging readiness before returning. Long breaks require the online Return to Play program. A break can stay active if you do not complete the return process; reaching 36 months does not force the account to reopen.

What these programs do not cover

  • ALC's terms provide for returning deposited funds on breaks of six months or longer, subject to their conditions. For a shorter break you can request a refund. Ask support what verification is required; do not send identity documents to Detachr.
  • Automatic subscription renewals stop, but subscriptions already purchased remain valid under section 7.10 of ALC's terms. Check the account's outstanding purchases rather than assuming every future draw is cancelled.
  • ALC administers video lottery in the province, but the reviewed sources do not establish that an alc.ca break prevents play on physical VLTs or retail ticket purchases.
  • Charitable lottery licensing is a separate government function. Those operator licence forms are not player self-exclusion applications. No province-wide land-based enrollment was verified in this guide.
  • Other gambling accounts need their own restrictions. This public-source guide did not test a signed-in selector or complete an enrollment; if the official site blocks access, use ALC support.
